Fed up of clamping featherboards to my saw table I looked for ideas and came up with this. Don't know if it's been tried before but in my usual fashion cost me nothing as I had everything already.

No drawings just an idea that developed as I went along and I may make another featherboard to fit the clamp and simplify it. I used 1mm brass sheet as it is strong and rigid and with hindsight should have made the back edge taller to accept the locking mechanism instead of adding a bit of aluminium , ( didn't know a lock would be needed and probably not but belt and braces).

I already had an old cheap guide clamp which cost me around a tenner from JTF wholesae, I cut it down to suit my table and re-threaded the rod end to accept the nut. Needed to fashion a clamp profile at each end to suit my SIP 01332 saw.

Pics are self explanatory and I have other thoughts on how to simplify the arrangement but am delighted that it works perfectly as is.

I made a similar one for my router table out of MDF:

I did something similar Walter to fit in the T channel in my saw table and works well but sometimes I need a way to secure wider boards and the new version can accommodate anything up to the width of the table.

It's great fum making jigs and tools though.

Hey Paul, how are the feathered members of the family doing? We had a large Tawny in our apple tree yesterday lunchtime. It was awful weather and so dark the poor thing probably thought it was night time. :thinks:

Well my son is now a game keeper and left home and so we haven't got any here at the moment Bob... although that will probably change. He's just been out to Switzerland with Lloyd Buck for a week filming with his Gyr Saker falcon for National Geographic which should be shown on tele next year.

That's great, you must be very proud of him Paul. Drop us all a reminder when you know the TV schedule.

South Africa was anything but dark when we were there, the light was amazing.

The light may be amazing.
Economy is dark and getting darker.
Crime is exceptionally dark. Very, very scary dark.
Exchange rate is dark
Cost of getting good equipment is dark.
Dark Africa it is.

yes, have used it several times now and it works very well indeed. I have a couple of MDF ones similar to Walters which also work but this one can fit anywhere on the tablesaw not dependant on the mitre slots and the featherboard itself can fix anywhere along the length of the clamp so very versatile.
