I finally got round to finishing these omega fountains from Dan.Finished using craft coat .

I will be selling these for our works nominated charity as the boss gave me the oak in the form of kitchen doors. On the upside I am able to display my wares in the works showroom so will hopefully lead to more orders..

A Question for you what should I sell these for. . I was thinking 4 of them at £50 a pop and was going to raffle the last one at £2 a ticket..

If you can get £50 each that's great, but it all depends who you're selling them to and if it's for charity people maybe prepared to spend more on the pen than they would otherwise simply because it's for charity. I struggle to sell my omegas for more than £25. Good luck with it

I am the same as you Ray. If you can get £25 for a pen around here you have done well. At a local fair last year I dropped my Slimlines to £7:50 to try and get some custom. The first punter told me that he could buy a box of Biros for less than that.

I would say you're about right there Graeme. I would sell them as they are for £35.00 but for a charity £50 is good and raffling the last one is hopefully a good way of getting even more than £50.

That argument about biros annoys me, and I point out that they are not unique like my pens and they won't find another like it.

i think that there is a lot to be said for that. if somebody has the budget of a cheap throwaway pen then you are not going to be able to convince them that you have an alternative. everybody is different, and entitled to spend what they wish.

I was watching a youtube clip the other day on selling techniques. The question, ironically was "sell me this pen", and the first suggested question was "do you use pens, because if you say no, I dont want to sell you something that you dont want?"

if you get the biro argument, you may as well agree and just move on to speaking to the next person. if you get the price quibble, then that is the opportunity to explain what goes into the pen and why it is worth the money.

A nice set of pens Graeme
I'd agree with Paul on £35.00 being the right price for an Omega
Personally I think you'll struggle at £50 each, but I hope you get it as it is for charity :nooidea:

Thanks woody.. after I turned the speed down and didn't buff too much came up great.. a lot easier than ca. looks like has potential to give a long life finish feels good in the hand as well.. not the cheapest but for the little used per pen will last for ages.. just got to figure out best thing to apply it with.. tried blue roll which normally works well with other finishes I have used. What did you use?

I read somewhere that an American pen maker tells punters his pens are not for them if they quibble about the price :funny:

I would agree with this. If you quibble at the price then its not for you. If you want a handmade pen at the price of a biro, then feel free to make your own.

I sell a lot of pens for charity & at £35 people would walk on by. A lot of people will tell you how really nice your pens are then put a couple of quid in the charity box.

A nice set of pens Graeme. I got £15 for a pen once but usually I try and sell at £10 but usually give it away at £7.50 - £8.
Hope you get what you want.
