I have mentioned a few times about the challenge of using slim stock, namely vintage cellulose tubes that are very narrow and pre-drilled.
In order to use this material for the barrel, section and the cap I went down the route of making a pen where the cap screws onto the end of the section. This is nothing new but it was the only way I could come up with to achieve the aim.
After a few trial runs with modern cellulose and ebonite (see my previous posts) today I finally made one with the vintage cellulose. I think that, apart from wood, nothing comes close to it in terms of look and feel. I added in the "acrylic turned pens" section even though it isn't an acrylic. It's probably closer to wood given that its made from wood pulp. I did use acrylic to line the section and to close the open end of the barrel.
The last photo shows the cellulose as it is when it arrives.
Details:
Overall length - 130mm
Diameter - 12mm (section pinches to 11.4mm)
Bock no5 nib
Cartridge/Converter
