Finishing Acrylics

Evening,

Having turned a couple of acrylic pens a few days ago, I wondering how to improve the finish. Like most of us on here I don't often buy a new gadget/wax/oil/et al on a whim - I like to read some user reviews before I splash out.

I came across a posting here talking about Meguiars Scratch X polish. Further my youngest son rates it as a great way to get rid of annoying dinks on car paintwork.

So I borrowed his (ha - roles reversed for a change!) and wow - really impressed. The image is of two pens, both Binary acrylics, the one on the left polished with Meguiars and the right down to 12000 micro mesh. Interesting to find out how resilient the finish is, but good so far.

Son was last heard grumbling about having his stuff used and not replaced - te he.

Any of the scrath removers work well Chris they are pretty much all the same. I use G3 for the car and another can't remember without looking but brasso works just as well as does chrome polish or you can buy perspex polish in nos 1 and 2 grades.
Grump on here used toothpaste.

As above, I use Farcla G3 it works a treat....I did away with Micro mesh alooooong time ago.

I still use the micro mesh and find I get good results but it is a slow process compared to other methods.

Phil's moved as many times as you mate, he's currently a southerner

I sand to 600grit using Abranet, then use Yorkshire Grit (both original & microfine) I think it’s brilliant & cuts my finishing time down to a matter of a few minutes with a decent shine.
