Fires in Spain

Got a mate who's kindly lending us his holiday house in Spain so flights and car booked for a relaxing 10 break. The house is however only 10 miles from Javea so I can only hope the authorities get the fires sorted as we fly early next week.

I'm cool but the missus is panicking - just a bit!

Thanks John, it's for the missus really, she's had a hard time with her hip replacements and needs some sun and swimming excercise, I'm going for the beer.
Might have to sign up for the fire brigade if they haven't put it out.

Thanks Mark, looking forward to a break doing nothing for a change, haven't had that kind of holiday for many years as usually very active. Just planned next year which is a big one, told the kids were spending their inheritance.

Nope, told you we're spending the kids inheritance. Looked at what our savings were earning in interest and we're losing twice as much in inflation as we're earning. Missus health sort of focussed our mindsas you really don't know what's around the corner.

My mate had a heart attack last week, no obvious warning and lucky to be alive and just look at what Neil went through. You only get one life John and it's gone in a blink.

Actually John I'm an ungrateful sod as apart from the change of scenery I'm not really looking forward to it all that much. Temp in the mid 30s is a bit too hot, I get bored very quickly and sitting around a pool or the beach all day just isn't for me so I guess I'll be off on my own rather a lot looking for local markets etc. no tool shops around there. We might take a drive on to Valencia though which would be nice and at least the car has air con ( it better had!)

I haven't even sorted anything yet except the basics, normally everything would be done weeks ago, scheduled on a database, a file full of info on the area and things to do etc. just not enthused - will be before we go though.

Few days to go yet peter. picked up the house keys this morning and organised my daughter who's house and dog sitting for us.
It's a really nice little 2 bed / 2 bathroom town house, one of 12 that share the largish pool so should be quiet now all the kids are back at school.
Nice views, taken when we were last there 14 years ago taken from front door and roof terrace.
