Sorting out firewood and keep getting distracted!

Found a bit of Hawthorn yesterday and made this 5" at the round by 3" bowl.

Today I found a bit of Berberis and stopped sorting again! (5" x 2 1/2")

Will this chore ever end?

Normal reaction to piles is discomfort, but in your case Neil it seems compulsive turning. And why not mate two neat bowls, you sure like cracks and imperfections.

Bl##dy thing is full! Though if you want to send me free wood I might consider building another wood store?

Unfortunately no.
It will go a quite pleasing Orange/Brown but will lose the Yellow. I've found that Berberis root is more colourfast than the upper bits and makes good pen blanks if you can cut it before it splits. Mahonia is about the same colour but holds on to it longer. Shame they are shrubs though, this bowl is massive for Berberis!

Sounds like Cherry splits very easy

As for the wood store like you mine is full to the point that I still have logs to cut but still can't find the right wood for a project.
