Nice to get those first ones under your belt Chris, and it is good that you have pictures of them as you will be trying to improve with every pen you make you will start to see changes in the styles and shapes, so it is good to have pens to look back on .. Well done Sir ...

Erm.... sorry Paul not sure as kits were supplied by Paul Loseby, I am hoping my pen turning stuff will turn up this week as I ordered it on the 23/12 from Turners Retreat but due to the amount of time they were closed over the xmas period it wasn't being despatched until last Friday. When it does I am going to invite him round for some further advice and I will ask him and let you know.
Kind regards,
Chris

Nice pens Chris,

The first sierra African Blackwood has a mark towards the top of the pen barrel (on the back view), is that in the wood or just the photograph.?

Really nice turned and you will progress really well with having a top tutor..:love_it:

Chris, The kit is a streamline one of Timberbits David Lims own designed centre band called the Fauna series and manufactured in Taiwan only for David he has a Flora and Fauna series. David was very proud to be able to design these and on other kits including the Southern Cross Star formation in them.

Competent first pens prelude to so many more and the advice to keep them was sound for later on.

Like the pens and the display also your getting instruction early on saving so much time getting to good methods and practices that make the disease rampant ie Pen Pox.

Kind regards Peter.

Hi Silver, The marks are in the wood, when I was turning it the marks appeared and as it was being sanded the marks changed appearance and took on a steel colour.

Hi Peter, Thanks for kind words, Pen Pox will set in when my stuff turns up! I turned the pens with a skew chisel with an eli avisera grind which all but removes the risk of a dig-in. I have since converted my skew to this grind and can't wait to start.
