After some issue with my lathe, i purchased a new one from Axminster with much better results. Despite breaking 4 blanks, down to trying new techniques and some cases poor wood (don't practice on timber with knots!). I turned my first 2 pens. The first one was too slim at the end, i underestimated the width of the pen nib, so looks slightlty to slim and I was trying CA coats for the finish. I tried one of this pen.

The second attempt I took what I learnt and was much better the wood was terrible to use but I do there!.

I used multiple CA layers and I'm really happy with the results

Only 4 blanks!!! That's just a mornings work for me - Well done, Where would we be without CA. I have an Axminster lathe and it's a tiny bit off centre but genuinely pleased with it.

Cheers

Ant many years ago I found unknown lumps in my chest, off to the doctors, specialists, hospital removal. What I am saying if you are aware where to look what is normal then what is great top results follow. In these two pens as you found those turning moments that produce undercuts and misfits can be easily overcome.

Contrary to many thoughts Slimlines require quite a lot of work to achieve your second and beaut pen. It all came together and to top it off the finish you applied is excellent. Your pic is clear, I like the lines in the top of the pen.

I am so pleased you are acheiving and sharing so soon. Have fun mate its a terrific buzz.

Peter.

Hi Ant, my first pen looked a lot like your first pen but my second was nowhere near as good as your second! Good work mate.
