I can make them out just Ray, it looks as though you cut all the way through the blank! The best way is to leave a few mm's on the blank to place the inlay in the cut .. :winking:

Good looking pen though my friend ..

Jim, I'm not sure how to get around the problem of the kerf on my bandsaw being far too wide for the material I have to fit in the cut without there being a gap. I just bought a thin bandsaw blade too, 0.14mm but even some brass sheet I have which is 0.5mm is loose :nooidea: I have some thin black plasticard, 0.5mm I think, but on a light wood I'm not convinced it would look good :nooidea:

Any tips appreciated

By the way, this one was done by gluing 3 pen blanks together staggered with the coke can between the layers and then a blank cut across the diagonal.

Ray I don't think there is any way to get over your prob other than doing what you did, you have got to have the same material as your kerf, having said that someone will prove me wrong I bet!:rolling:
