It's been just a few days over two years since I turned my last pen , what with some fairly serious, but not deadly health problems and the Cake lady booking holidays here there and everywhere....she had me shivering my nuts off in Iceland last March looking for the Northern Lights..... I'm afraid pen turning took a back seat.
After a couple of days 'playing around' dusting down benches switching things on and off to see if they still worked and generally mucking about I decided today, to take the lathe by the horns and make something. In fact it was a remake of an old Sierra kit that was originally dressed in white Corian which had split along a joint....do any old timers remember the Corian splitting saga of two years ago ? ......I have redressed it using 400 year old x-cut piece of English oak that I salvaged from an ex farmhouse ..now pub.. a couple of years ago. Finish: bare wood sanded to 12000 grit.

Worth waiting for Ed real pleasure to see you turning again. I noticed you psyching up yourself for some time now. Love the patterns in the timber.

Peter.
