Apologies for the photo it's the best I could do with my iPad.

This is my first go at an Empress that I got from Axminster it is done in Thuya Burr

Don't know what to think about them really, they seem a bit chunky to me.

I took as much wood off as I dared but it still looks big

Nothing much between this kit and the Roman Harvest kit from Timberbits, both very chunky pens but both can look good with the right dress on them .. This is no exception Vic, i like it my friend ..

I think the Empress is growing on me a little, but I still am in the opinion that it looks a bit chunky, I am going to have to live with it as I have another 9 to do as I went for 10 from Axi to get the extra discount on top of the 35% discount that they had on them. So all in all a cheap kit on this occasion.

The only other Fountain Pens that I have done were Americano's which I got from Vinny at the Turners workshop and they were very nice.

What recommendations would you guys make in relation to choice of Fountain Pen.

Big is beautiful too Vic in pens we all have different sizes in hands to some guys I know this one would appear small. A Solicitor I used one time he was a big guy and the pen he used enormous sort of went with his image.

Liked your pen the timber you used is great.

Kind regards Peter.

Spring Blossom you meant Jim? Same manufacturer but without the crystal blingy thing on the tip. Sorry to be negative about this kit but I think that it is awful, an attempt at a upmarket desk pen that fails miserably. The quality is OK, but theres nothing good design wise about a piece of bashed metal as the clip, its a flat sheet metal clip, about as tacky as you can get and the stuff along the length of the clip is just stuck in, not always straight, and is not unknown to fall out.

You've done a fine job Vic, but you can still see the Trabant underneath the top coat.
