I turned my first goblet today out of a piece of Ash. It's just under 6 inches tall.
I also decided to add a captive ring, which is too big and not very good.
I was going to remove the ring, but "Her Indoors" said I should leave it on for your critique

Chas, the ring doesn't look to much out of place to me due to the goblet size and shape .. Damn good first effort however you look at it ..

It's lovely Chas:thumbs: the ring shouldn't really have a flat on it, but if it is your first, what the hell:thumbs:

A great achievement for a first especially the captive ring. Did you put some sandpaper onto the stem and sand the inside of the ring

Yes I know Peter, that's why I was going to take it off :whistling:

Yes Derek, I attached the sandpaper to the stem with masking tape. The took it off and put it back on the right way round :goesred:

I think that is fab-u-lous !

The goblet is a great shape and a lovely finish.

That whole captive ring thing fascinates me, one on the to-do list after seeing that.

I would leave it and when you do the next one you will be able to see the progress. It's still a good goblet:thumbs:
