Great job of it, as Mark about grain matching. I guess it could be matched but the cap may need screwing on in the right place.

Mate I would of posted a story but came over a little funny in the shed and rushed the finish somewhat. Too tired to post my usual novel

Now as for matching the grain my normal technique is to cross my fingers and hope for the best, I am starting to think I need to alter that way

Grain match is really easy.... I always mark the blank along it's length before I cut it in sections... Take the middle cut ends and mark center for drilling..... Once drilled these get slotted on my blank stand in the correct orientation ( Basically a piece of 18mm mdf with 100mm lengths of 6mm dowel sticking up).
Once turned to shape and ready for assembly, I run a flue brush through the tube... I put the end finial in first, then screw the nib( fountain pens only) onto its fitting... Select the face and just start it into the tube, remove the nib and then push the fitting home. (with the Omega I use a m10 nut to avoid crushing the threads)
Next I push the black threaded part onto its cuplour screw this onto the nib assembly, align your blank so the pattern matches or grain aligns and again start to push the coupler home.... Unscrew this assembly and push fully home with a press.... Finally put your clip and cap in and your done!

Your experience of resin is the complete opposite of mine.!!!!
Absolutely hate the stuff.
