Hi,

I've been turning wood for about 6 months.

On Sunday I made my first pen, a slimline out of boxwood.

Yesterday I took it to work, went home and left it on my desk.

This morning it's gone!

I'm quite flattered that someone thought it worth nicking.

Thanks guys.

I'm not bothered about it. It was OK for a first attempt but nothing special. I learnt that a slimline pen really needs to be slimline. It looked a bit silly with a narrow waist and bulges in the middle of each section.

For the next one I'm thinking of ditching the ring in the middle and making one of a contrasting wood. That way only the top and bottom have to be skinny. I'll should be able to turn all three sections together on the mandrel and see the overall shape better.

Welcome to the forum, dont worry about having a pen " stolen" I have had several "stolen" by my wife, mother in law, grand daughters etc et , but on the upside I had a couple come over to buy a sofa i was selling, and they ended up buying a pen each, and the guy wants me to build him a fountain pen :banana::thumbs: so not sure whether to go for a Laveche or Mistral

Best suited to poodle's tails and strings of sausages - it takes lots of folk years to learn that. You and I are going to get on just fine.
