No Walter your quite right it proves nowt ! I had a look at some so called German Nibs that I purchased from Penkits Uk they are definitely RZ Chinese made Kits but have the German Nib in them. The loupe test like you, exhibited none of the defects that were listed in the link but I would bet my bottom dollar that they are Chinese in origin.
I like to use a fountain pen but I am no expert at writing with them and have used one of the pens that I made with the ""German" nib for a couple of years now and have always been pleased with the way it writes.
I gave a mate one around the same time and he is a Fountain Pen Nut and sends most of his pens to be doctored by the Pen Wizard. Up to date he has felt that the one I gave him writes fine and has not felt it necessary to have it tuned up!
Perhaps sometimes we tend to look a little too deep into things and forget the old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
