Hello mates,
last monday, I got in the mail, a pack of 6 assorted acrylic blanks branded Craftprokits.
For being onest, I dont like this material very much, because it smell of plexyglass when turned, and i really hate that smell.
Smell apart, it's very hard and scratch resistant and it's very beautiful.
Turned a European for testing the medium and I like the result:

Will try the other five on other pen models, but I will turn another 2 european for sure (I just love european style )

Best regards
Francesco

Very nice pen. I believe Axminster sell these blanks. Had no problems with these blanks & have found them ok.

Great looking pen well done, I like those blanks the always look good when finished.:thumbs:
You are right about the stink.
The only thing I would pick on that pen is you can see the tube in the second photo, I learnt to always paint the tubes on resin and acrylic blanks.:thinks:

That's just what i was about to say. I have been turning quite a few of these recently (they sell pretty well in my office), and it is amazing the different effects you can get using different colours of paint.

These were painted with black tubes (left of each pair) and white tubes (right of each pair). Each pair was turned from the same blank, and they look completely different.

That's a nice looking pen mate. Like others have said colouring the brass tube can make one hell of a difference with some acrylic blanks

Indeed mate,
Looking at the blank, I was tinking that it was a solid and opaque color, but I was wrong, wasn't I? :funny:
The fact that the kit is gold plated and I use tons of glue, almost saved me.
You can see the tube at the tip, but (out of luck, of course) is not disturbing.
Today I got a product that I use to blacken brass and copper (we sell this in the store ) and will use this to colour the brass tubes.

Thanks a lot for the hint
Francesco
