I made this for my sister's ex-husband, whom I still consider my brother-in-law. He is a minister, so the Bethlehem olivewood was a no-brainer. I chose a gold kit, to represent a line from my late father's favorite hymn, Where The Roses Never Fade. The line is, "Where the streets with gold are laid." Steve came and prayed with my father in the hospital right before his death, and he said the eulogy at his funeral. Even though it's been more than 10 years, I'm still incredibly thankful for Steve. I felt compelled to make this pen, to show in very small measure my appreciation.

That's a beautifully turned and finished pen Jim. A very deserving recipient too by the sounds of it. I think giving something to someone that they know you have taken time to make for them is a gift that words cannot replace. Good on ya !

A reference to the timber used was cut from the tree as prunings so of course no trees were damaged.

Peter.

I love this wood, I make a lot of Pens from this Olive from Bethlehem. For every other pen I sell I sell 4 times as many Olive Wood.
