Today I tried my hand at turning my first fountain pen. This one is made from sweet chestnut. I found the wood quite difficult to turn as the grain on the wood kept catching - a bit like oak. I had to sharpen the tools a few times to ensure the wood didn't catch and rip. So I'm not sure if the finish and polish is quite as shiny as some of the other woods I've used - Nice looking grain though.
