A very long overdue post here.

A couple of weeks a go I was fortunate enough to go down to woody to try my hand at turning, I've never turned anything in my life so I was looking forward to having a go and seeing what I could make.

In the end I produced three pens:

I made a Sierra, a fountain pen and a slimline. The fountain pen which I can't remember the name of the kit was in tiger wood as well which I don't think is all that common.

Thanks so much for the opportunity woody, I wish I had the cash to get set up, but until I'm finished at uni I will have to wait.

If anyone has a continental spindle gouge laying about let me know, I did okay with that tool.

It must have been a great experience for you never having turned before. Well done and keep saving and looking out for a lathe.

Thanks everyone, woody has kindly offered to let me use his lathe again if need be which I will certainly take the opportunity to do if the offer still stands.

I'm really happy with the pens and never thought I would produce anything like those.

You are in the best hands with our Woody, be nice to him we all love him.
The fountain pen looks like an Empress and all expertly turned and finished.
Glad you enjoyed the experience that'll keep you coming back for more.
Make the most of the tuition from Woody that is worth more than money and you will remember it all through life.

That is a great set of pens Liam. You are very lucky in having Woody as your mentor and he has obviously guided you on the correct path already.

Hi, Liam,

Well, you've been taught by The Master, so you're on the road to success, matey. Nice pens, and looking forward to seeing more.

Well done (again!) Woody!

Bob.
