Had a go with some kitchen worktop offcut, Mistral solid surface ( like Corian ).
this material is 25mm thick so main box is 3 layers glued together and a separate bit for the lid plus a small bit glued on for the finial.

Box is approx 120 mm high x 100 mm dia and I'm pleased with it as the joins are barely visible, the amount of dust this stuff throws out isn't pleasant though so it won't be a regular project.

Looks good Bob. Certainly in the photos, I can't see any joins at all, and if you hadn't mentioned it, I'd be wondering where you came by corian that thick.

Acrylic marvels Bob. This sent me on a google frenzy so I now know a great deal more about the product and its possibilities. Thank you for the stimulous to enquire.

Looking carefully at your turning I like what you have made, having fun is great. I noted your comment on the byproduct dust.

Yet another way to use countertop material that has merit.

Kind regards Peter.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

This retirement lark is no fun really, don't know where the time goes :winking:

Yep Neil golf is difficult, not easy to hit a ball that's sunk in the mud, hasn't harmed the fishing though.
