Visited a lovely old lady yesterday who instantly recognised me as the pen man.
Her hubby bought a pen for birthday 4 years ago, he since passed away leaving her alone in this world.

She told me of how she got mugged by some young thugs resulting in a hip and eye operation ans a dislocated shoulder.
That has healed and I see her for other reasons but the memory is still very vivid in her mind and the fact that her pen was in the bag that got nicked.

Some bits came through post for Emco yesterday so I had a play after work today, I couldn't get this ladies ordeal from my mind and made her this little gift.
I am sure it won't replace the one hubby got for her but hope it will bring a smite to her boat and show her there is still good in this world.

Because the Emco has such a low base which it needs for the saw's and belt sander, this means sitting at the lathe part which was a first for me.
The pen is nothing special just a kit that Charly left behind and a piece of pallet wood offcut from the Emco base.

My first bit of spinning for a while and done on seat init?

You is quite right Frankie, this clip has a big bulb on the back of it and it hits just where the barrel starts to taper down throwing it up a bit.
Didn't know that was gonna happen till it was put together but it's good enuf to give away.

Ya great big softie Brian.
Great story and a lovely selfless gesture, good on yer mate!

Nice little try out for the new toy as well.Sitting at the lathe isn't a bad thing, I'd do it if I could find a tall enough stool.:thinks:

Gave it to her today she made such a fuss over it I nearly had a tear welling up init?
Sometimes I get so much pleasure from the job, it ain't all about money.
After waking the dead to the sweetest lady who wants to look after me.
I was like a drowned rat when I arrived, she gave me a towel to myself and put the kettle on and made me a cuppa, I am sposed to be her carer init?
