Hi all
Where is the best place to buy a foot switch for the scroll saw and what are the best one to get or is some one selling one :praying:

They are wonderful for scroll saws freeing up your two hands for control of the material, speeding up the process and allowing accurate cuts.

I had thoughts of fitting a foot switch to a recent machine I had but I ended up scrapping it due to a bent arm. I should have kept it and tried to fit a switch anyway as I still want to fit a switch to my present machine. A circuit diagram for your machine would help (I couldn't get one from the makers of my scrap machine), but I reckon the foot switch would need to be placed in the wire that feeds power to the motor ?
Another point is the switch should be in some sort of shoe/covered block so that it cannot be accidently trod on while changing blades etc.

Something I never thought about..Looks like a good option, if I was using my scroll saw more I would be tempted with this mod myself..:thinks:

Surely it's good safety policy to remove the mains plug on "any" machine when replacing blades and not rely on the stop/start switch tho Don:rolling:

I bought one last year but have never got around to wiring it in. I bought one with 15-amp rating as I thought it would have bigger contacts on with a hope that it would work longer. When wiring it you are putting the neutral and earth wires straight through and taking a loop out of the live and switching it with a non-latching (momentary) switch. If it’s a modern machine by law it will have a NVR fitted you will either have to bypass this or pick up the feed from the output. It is 240 volts mains you are dealing with so with that in mind I would solder the wires on each side of the live cable that goes into the terminal so that the screws have something to bite into when screwed in I would give it a good tug test as you do not want a 240v live cable flying about the inside of the footswitch I would also use heat shrink up tight to the terminal blocks below is a rough circuit I nicked off another site.
