Only my second ever tiger trout, (should be a leopard trout going by the markings), got this one last week. Was around 5 lbs they are catch and release only and aren't the easiest to catch as they've been caught a few times are are very easily spooked

Beautiful fish, the phone pic really doesn't do it justice.

Hi Bob,

That is an amazing looking fish.
I do miss the old fishing days, I must take up the hobby again.

Tight lines.

I just started again earlier this year after a long break Paul and try to go once a week if possible. I had forgotten how much I enjoy it.
Have had rainbows up to 9 lbs but it's the 2 to 3 lb fish that fight the hardest usually acrobatic. The tigers stay deep like brownies and shake their heads like a dog with a rag.
They really can't have much of a brain as a few weeks ago a fish buried itself in the reeds and snapped off my fly ( barbless hook ) and I caught it an hour later with the fly still in its' mouth. Was just over 4 lbs and went home for the pot.

The Tale of the Tiger impressed me Bob thanks for sharing a 5 lb Trout is a wonder and delight to me.

Peter.

Here's a 9 lb rainbow Peter, there are some in the lakes twice that size. Appologies for the old git in the Indiana Jones hat :funny:
Note the weather in Northumberland is just like yours, hot and sunny :whistling: We've had snow here for 3 days this week.

That's a beautiful fish Bob. Never heard of a tiger trout before so I'll have to google it. I'd think you were odd if you didn't have the hat - a silly hat is a per-requiremet for all fly anglers is it not?

As for me, I've failed to even get a line wet this year, and the season's closed now, so too late for this year.

Golf too energetic for you now old bean?:whistling::funny::kiss:

:funny::funny::funny: Play golf as well, once or twice a week but not in this bloody weather Neil.
Some of us have to work at being retired.

We've been threatening to bring the caravan to York for a couple of nights so you might get a knock on the door one of these days.

Bob, blown away by this magnificent fish, you would love my carry pen, the blank from Les in Red Deer he tied the fly fitted a short trace then a Mallard Duck feather(one on either side. So many people have tried to wrest this pen from me.

Nice weather for ducks mate. Never mind it will seem a dream in a few seasons.

Kind regards Peter.

What did you catch it on?

A pink apps bloodworm Chris, a bit like this one only a slimmer body and an extra pair of legs tied in the middle. Size 14 barbless. I tie my own so just make it up as I go along:ciggrin:

I saw the fish cruising so cast a couple of feet in front then just a little twitch and the tiger couldn't resist. I doubt colour matters much it's the flexible legs that triggers them to take. i got a 9 lb rainbow recently on a black version of the same fly.

Thats rather well done - I once sacrificed some fur from a parka to make up a fly for a grayling that really wasn't playing ball. Caught the beastie after a scintillating fight on a 7 foot rod deep under bushes. Satisfying.

Like that tie holder as well as the beaut fly, some satisfaction there mate.

I have never forgotten the shock when I first met my brother in law, nearly straight off the boat late 1940,s from Durham in England and he talked about his Dad had sole rights over a choice section Lairds stream to fish. (gentleman fishing indeed).

:funny::funny::funny: We used to have an Irish Setter many moons ago who developed a slowly receding tail, never did tell my missus the reason for that but the hairs made up some lethal streamer flies.
