When I'm not playing on my lathe, I earn a living as a truck driver, the other day I had the good fortune to have a collection from Sykes Timber in Atherstone ( www.sykestimber.co.uk ). Casually mentioned to the owner that I would love to have an hour to myself in the sheds with a hand saw, explained it further by telling him about my wood turning hobby. He informed me that they had an offcut shed, so after being loaded with my original collection, I ended up perusing the stock in the offcut shed. All pieces were priced up and marked with the type of timber, didn't want to be too greedy so limited myself to a few pieces which should keep me amused until my next visit.

Oh in case anyone was wondering, I got a piece of Teak, a piece of Obeche and a piece of Douglas Fir.

Now I just need to let the traffic office know that I want scheduled for the next collection there :praying::whistling::thumbs:

Here are a couple of pens I made today with the Teak and Obeche, ok so I have enough of each timber to make another 30 odd pens, but hey, you can never have too much timber lying around.
:lmao:
