Fountain Pens advice on kits with changeable nibs

Hi, so far, i've restricted myself to rollerballs and ballpoints. however a few people are now asking for fountain pens. i'm reticent to say yes as i have never used a fountain pen myself and people appear to have personal preferences for particular nibs. one lady in particular has asked for a fountain pen with an italic nib (whatever that might be) with a rose inlayed on the barrel!

any advice would be appreciated on possible kits and suppliers. my first instinct is to pass this over to someone who knows the subject better than i do - which is possibly everyone in the forum

food for thought - for info i contacted Onoto nibs - certainly sir came back the reply we'll sell you are gold plated nib and gold plated assembly unit and support for £180 + vat which includes grinding the nib specifically to the ladies personal requirements!! you can then match up your pen barrel to our assembly.

i must admit the nib looks beautiful but it's out of the ladies price bracket and i very much doubt can get a suitable connector to join my work to the superb Onoto craftmanship. a bit like fitting a merlin engine to a 2cv ( not that i have anything against 2cv's).

i look forward to hearing from you bfn andrew

Andrew I don't have a contact as such. I just pm'd him when I wanted something and he came back to me in no time. He does have a website
but I can't remember what it was called. I believe he lives around the South Shields area. Sorry I can't give you any more info.
