From Ashes to finished pen

Morning all so two weeks ago I started to make a pen from a burl, and I was happy to say it was working out really well but then the unthinkable happened, the cap thread snaped my fault I turned it far to thin. It must have been a loss of concentration, so I left in in the kitchen for a week or two trying to work out how to save it.
This Sunday I started another pen “Kirinite “and I was just started to shape the cap while it was screwed to the barrel, but it must have just caught the edge and yep it snapped the thread of the cap again!
Well, I am now four blanks down and no pen to show for it. Then Vallyboy posted his Italian pen and Bingo, my answer to save two failed pens

So, the first image is the mess I had to work out how to use and save. I did look for a extra blank but they where all sold



This photo shows the broken thread from the cap, yep I looked all over the floor for the part so I could glue it back on.
And this is the end result inspired by a pen posted by Vallyboy









I am still working on this pen as I am in too mind’s weather to turn a posting end to this pen similar to this pen

Thank you all for the nice comments there was a lot of time on both pens that I wanted to just start a new pen but it all worked out ok in the end

on to my next pen, I think I'll do a kit next just for a stress (free !!) turning lol
