Dont know if you know of George, he posts as Cornucoppia on many woodturning websites. He makes hybrid resin/burr pen and box blanks. Before you moan at the cost, yes they are expensive, for the work that it takes to produce these it is worth it for that special pen. For those of you who do craft fairs the interest that one of these blanks on a good quality fountain pen will generate will be well worth it.

Anyway, I subscribe to his newsletter and I got a copy today alerting me to a new batch of blanks that he has made, they are here, Pen blanks.

Nope, not a penny. But I would like to see someone who makes quality kit thrive in business so have no problem bringing his products to your attention. However, Paul, please dont put these on a centre bandless slimline!:mooney2:

ha ha, thats me out then... oh wait a minute, I had another delivery from Dad today, another bunch of Omegas... now then theres a thought...

I'm also going to have a go at the silver stuff so one of these blanks might be very suited to that.... :bwink:

I am in agreement with you about wanting quality products to succeed.

Are you sure you're not on a commission? I know what you salty old sea captains are like. :funny:

I've never seen anything but top quality from George, whether it be his blanks, or his turning!

Love his stuff I keep meaning to get a box blank to do, but usually find something else to do with the money :sob:

Neil coincidence I have just finished reading Georges latest newsletter and I am intrigued by the continual references and use of White Mallee Burl in his incredible blanks also Red Box Burl I was introduced to so many years ago. I have waffled about the real fact there is no such thing really as Brown Mallee Burl it has been called that forever it seems but like most common names crept in and simply describes Mallee similar to the basis it would seem of the Watkins revelations. In Australia we refer to the tall poppy syndrome stick your head up in any way be prepared for the verbal and viscious attacks that follow from the most unlikely sources.

Striking a chord such as the work in the newsletter stimulates me in particular as it gives me an insight into the superb detail to be found in English and Australian timbers that will result in my delving into my cache of burl long assembled in my many sheds these deserve to see the light of day, I have some long kept thoughts on making a few more momento pieces exposing the burl in pen holders with coins etc. It is now 6am and to check every now and then on posts an early start helps set me up for the day.

Kind regards Peter.

Easy. Just ignore everyone who tells you to use CA and glue them in with epoxy.
I have prepared some blanks today with epoxy and I feel they were well covered. it's nice to know you have longer before it goes off. My problems were the blank not gluing properly at the ends so hopefully epoxy will solve that.
