Full house of Mistrals in bog oak

Full set of Mistrals in bog oak. This is the oldest bog oak I've used so far and it even had white streaks in the grain caused by minerals the oak absorbed over the years. The grain is very deep and has brought a lot of character to these pens. Made them for my brother in law and I hope he enjoys them as much as I did making them!

Thanks guys. Yes I'm going to be making a presentation box out of Walnut for these, and will engrave his initials into the box in a script style lettering. Will upload a pic of them in the box once I've made it :-)

I've got some walnut to make the box so will make two blocks this weekend and use my morticer to gouge them out, then I'll just need a nice brass hinge and catch. I was struggling to find red velvet foam online for the insert so I've bought some red velvet and I'll stick it to some foam myself. Another option is using a palm router to cut small trenches for the pens to sit in although my brother in law wants to be able to carry them around in his bag so the foam would probably protect the pens better.

Thanks Richard. I have a laser but haven't figured out how to cut the foam yet, do you just put a piece of plywood under the foam when you cut it? is there a risk of the foam catching fire? Cheers, Dougie

What type of laser you have.

What power the laser is.

What foam type you are cutting.

And YES, anything cut in ANY laser is a risk of fire....

Haha I hope you can see how I made that mistake! :-)

Ok that's too many variables for me to know what I'm doing. I would be very grateful for you help to do the foam inserts. I've only had my laser a week and engraving names on pens is as far as I have got. I'll PM you to discuss further.
