I had a bash at turning a Gavel and Sounding block for the Ministry of War to take control of meetings at work.
All guess work and spare bits of wood.

Gavel Head is Eucalyptus, handle is Cherry and the Sounding Block is Oak. Even had a go at wire burning.
Bloody shame I didn't spot the cherry before hand as it would have made a lovely pen.. :rolling:

Comments welcome :bwink:

I assume you having a bash at this was a pun :funny:

It is a very nice shape, you may find you will have to remake the handle a few times if the meetings get noisy :bwink:

Next challenge to make a gavel pen?

Another nice piece of work. Any judge would be proud to send someone down for life with one of these in his mitt:love_it::love_it::love_it:

Bob.

PS. And don't be upset at what you could have made - remember, a gavel in hand is worth two in a bush:goesred:

Thanks Woody, I was thinking that the handle had to be shaped. Next time it will be done properly - Cheers again :wink:

:The opposition doesn't need to be armed in David's house because when she speaks David obeys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Nonsense, Terry! Why just the other day she was on her knees before me. Admittedly at the time she was yelling: "Come out from under the bed, you coward!"

cracking looking gavel & block Rowdy - nice one again.

I started to make a hand held gavel today out of yew, but half way in a rather large crack appeared right down the middle so threw the blooming thing at Paula, she didn't see it coming, probably because the shed door was closed & she was sat in the house at the time :funny::funny::funny:
