I keep seeing this product advertised claiming that it is easy to obtain bubble free casting without the use of pressure pots etc. Has anybody tried it and does it do what it states on the tin ? For those of us who want to do the odd clear cast picture blank is it the answer ? :thinks:

I haven’t used the Glasscast 50, I’ve used the Glasscast 10 with a pressure pot, but if you are wanting to try Epoxy without a pressure pot the Glasscast 50 would be a good one to try. I think you can purchase it in small quantities aswell which is a plus.

I've used it without vacuum or pressure pot and I haven't had a bubble so far. It sets very slowly and the bubbles just rise to the top. The other option is polyester but it stinks and it's very brittle making it a little tricky to turn.

Could I ask you a further couple of questions ?
How long does it take to set ?
What does it turn like ?
Do you get much smell from it during the prep and setting time ?
Does it polish up and as glass clear as they state so that underlying images are not distorted ?

Cheers

1. 24 hours at a reasonable room temperature to set and then wait 2 more days to fully harden. (you can turn before the 2 days, but do not do any polishing)
2. it turns fine.... you can get covered with lots of silly string
3. The smell is very slight... unlike polyester which has the effect of causing a sea of troubles in the home

Hope it helps
