This was a very nice but scary piece of burr which Woody kindly donated at his open house. If I remember rightly he said it was Goldfield burr, correct me if I'm wrong Woody?

I've kept staring at it and wondering if I dare take it on. Anyway it got the better of me this afternoon.

Now these blanks were like Nottingham lace, more holes than wood, so decided to get the brass powder out alongside a gallon of thin CA.

Finished with friction polish.

Sorry about the pic quality.

Ed I know exactly how you feel, poor Woody must have been thinking what an ungrateful git I was. But I was just too damned scared of it.

Have a bash mate, if I can do it, you can do it.

Just take it steady real fine cuts and loads of thin ca.

The definition Goldfields Burl is like saying Eucalyptus Burl the term is applied to all timbers found in a region in Western Australia called the Goldfields, a neat way of not knowing what it is so classification is impossible really some are easy like Brown Mallee to separate.

I like your no named pen to introduce metals into the mix worked fine.

Kind regards Peter.

Very nice Phil, I've used the brass powder myself and it seems that photo's never do the finished pen the justice it deserves.
