Picked up a couple of Goldfield burr blanks at Woody's, not sure but i think it came from Doug, anyway decided to give it a bash today .. I have posted up the blank also to show off the voids that was in the blank .. I filled all the voids from the turned blank. Put it on a Chrome plated Slimline and gave it a friction polish and wax finish ..

That looks better than filling them with metal dust Jim but I am afraid it still don't rock my boat.
Can't like everything I spose.

It looks great, but I can see where the wood stabiliser would come in handy.

Thanks for the comments Guys, like Terry says, it is tough working with this blank, hence why i used to just look at it and never get around to using it Woody lol .. It really is nothing like a burr, just some wood full of voids, it looks like an old antique pen in the hand which the photo doesn't show, old cliché i know but i haven't used it for a long time .. :bwink:

I didn't have any powder for the voids Woody only a green or blue inlay granules ..

Did you get like bits of wood shooting off as you turned Jim, I turned a 10" bowl from the stuff & it was like being continually shot at from a pea shooter, not a pleasant experience but worth the effort.:thinks:
