Hi. Became a new member yesterday. In my profile I said that I liked to make pens from alternative material. Here is my first, based on an idea posted in IAP by Brendan Wong. Made for a friend who wanted to give a golfer a different pen. Used the mechanism and tube from a slimline otherwise handmade. The finial and clip are machined from a small block of aluminium.

Not only a good idea Bill but well executed. The recipient should be well pleased with that.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Great looking pen there Bill.

Looking forward to seeing your work. Something different for forum members to aspire too.

I think you will find it’s down to how the printing is set out so it can be read by whoever is holding in and using it.

That way the wording is always towards the person holding it.

Something I do not do often was examine and go over and over your pen marvelling at its innovation. My impression that for a golfer it is priceless. Send me your addy as I have a couple of wooden club heads that you could make real use of as stands for this type of pen.

Peter.

Thank you very much Peter, you are right - our small island has 4 biggish courses and there are quite a few broken clubs around!

The idea of setting off the pens with such bases is stunning. Many thanks for the suggestion. Pam (my wife) frequently says that I never finish the pens off by setting them on a base or even photographing them to best advantage.

I must say that I am flattered by the many great reviews, but I must repeat that my pen is based on an original idea by Brendan Wong. He deserves the real credit.

Thanks again Peter. You are too kind! As you rightly say later - there are a few around here. In fact I have a couple of very old ones in the loft - now there is an idea! ……...:winking:
