Hi,
this is bog oak from Ireland on a Majestic centre band.
Cap burst when i was fitting, might have to take off inner plastic next time reluctantly, unless some kind soul has a solution.
The barrel went on no problems and the wood is probably thinner.
I think the two pieces should be the same length as well.
C and C even though its broken welcome.
Pete

As Brian said, it is a piece to love forever. Hopefully you'll be able to repair the cap.

Pete, you should NEVER press fittings onto closed end pens, especially wooden ones. You're putting major stress through the unsupported closed end. DAMHIKT - I could show you a few of my early ones that look similar to this one! Put the centreband fitting into your chuck and take a very light skimming cut with a parting tool over the area that goes into the tube. What you are aiming to achieve is a slip fit into the tube. Then use epoxy to fit the component. (I wouldn't use CA, too risky.)

Pity - that would have been a beautiful pen!

Thanks for the comments.
Cheers David i was hoping fir a solution, i did think the problem was the plastic insert. But it wasn't as this only happened at the last 6-10mm.
So i was just going to lose the plastic. But maybe i don't have to, thanks for that.

Regards

Pete

What a shame. I had never thought that would happen, but never done that kit or closed end on the caps.

But one to watch out for.. Thanks for the heads up..

Still, the main part looks really nice and top quality..
