After spending yesterday drilling, glueing and facing off a set of 8 fountain pens, today I turned the cap barrels for them, decided to do them this way to save time in not swapping bushes around (For fountain pens,I turn 1 barrel at a time to eliminate run out or play)

Turned with a round nose scraper start to finish then sanded from 150 to 400 grit and finished with a mixture of friction polish and renaissance wax which ended up giving them a very deep sheen which isn't fully highlighted in the photo.

Sheen is fine the sign of good finishing IMHO is the overall effect you set out to achieve compared with the result looking ready to go Matt.
