Harder than it looks

Hi all,
Sooner or later I was going to try this and so today seemed as good as any to start! As you can see I am attempting a celtic knot ( 'not' being very appropriate) I have about 15 bland Walnut blanks to try with, I am hoping that it won't take that many....
So all started well, with a 1mm piece of acrylic sheet.....
Now they don't quite line up, I think the saw kerf might be too big?? Time to make a mitre box and try a thinner blade

Try it without the supporting block next time using ca glue that way you can line them up better

Good luck with those mate, done a few on plain blanks over the years but can’t be ar$ed with the faff now a days. That and struggling with feelings in my hands so makes small work even more of a challenge

Interested in seeing how this turns out, Mark.
I cut on a jig on bandsaw usually, sometimes table saw, but not all the way through.
If the infill material is the same thickness as the kerf, then glueing up is very simple.

A jig it will be then, the kerf IS thicker than the material so that's my problem!

Will veneer not make the material suit the kerf?

Mark there are a couple tutorials on making Celtic knot pens. One is to make the holding jig and one for gluing procedure.

The insert must be the same thickness as the saw kerf.

I’m old fashioned I use the old mitre saw with a piece of wood clamped as a stop
