Has anyone used a PSI 50 cal kit

I have been asked to make a pen from a 50 cal casing and looking at PSI kits they say they use genuine once fired shells, but their photos don't show the primer end and the guy who wants the pens wants them to have the primers in them. Do the PSI kits still have the used primer in?

There is a 50 cal bolt action and it looks like they have the primer in.

I have looked around the UK and can't find anyone who stocks them, do you know of anyone. I would also like some of the PSI pen cases.

I know I can email PSI, but thought I would ask here first as PSI have never been quick to reply.

Hi Peter not used the 50 cal, have used most of the other variations. Have you tried the PSI chat. Usually helpful

Peter, yes I got some PSI 50 cal kits from Pen Crafts in Glasgow and I can confirm they are real once fired shells. They have the firing pin dint in the end and mine were stamped with the initials of the Lake City ammunition maker in the USA. They use a standard slimline mechanism and come with a specially made gold plated insert and holder to put the pen together easily.

I also see Pen Crafts don't have them listed anymore. Dave at a Pen kits and bits has some but they don't look to be genuine whole shells as they come with different metal finish tops. If it's of any use to you, I know I have about 2 of the ones I got from Pen Crafts left, but they are made up pens with camo colour acrylic. If you think you could remanufacture them with the blank your customer wants I'll be very happy to sell you one or whatever I have left for a knock down price to clear them from my stock. They have never been used but the shells obviously have markings from being fired from a gun. Leg me know if you're interested and I'll pop over to my storage unit on tues.

Thanks for that Ray, I had checked them out, but they don't appear to have any in stock, I will email them and ask.

Hi Peter,

Almost at the end of this video he turns the finished pen round and you can see the primer still in place and although the person said he bought it from rockler at the begginig of the video it shows PSI on the instuction paperwork.

Thanks for that, Ray sent me some photos of the ones I am buying from him, so they are the same. I think I may have a ready market for a few of these so am looking at getting some more.

Rockier are a PSI agent, like many other US outlets. If you want to buy PSI kits without having to deal with PSI, an experience that will leave you dribbling and seeing the trick cyclist, then give Fritz a call at woodturningz, they are friendly, helpful and reliable. pSI are just objectionable, unhelpful, and don't have an atlas that shows anything east of Florida.

The 50 cal kits that come from Dave and other eBay boys come from Fuijan in China and are not the real McCoy!
