WARNING!!! DO NOT GET OLD!!
I'm almost 68yrs old and I feel like I'm 98.
Breaking my ass 10 days a week in lousy conditions took it's toll.
I need a total left knee replacement and my right ankle is pretty much
destroyed with arthritis and an old fracture to the point where the only way out
is a triple ankle fusion (google it) I'm in so much pain and can barely hold myself up.
I use a cane and sometimes a walker.
Soooo!
I have a bad heart with a couple of stents, ejection fraction of 19, and the 2 heart docs will not OK any
surgery. I went out of business and retired 14 yrs ago because of the heart problems.
Monday morning I go in for an angioplasty and possibly another stent.
Tuesday or Thursday they'll install a Defibrillator.
Then maybe I'll work up the courage for at least the knee replacement.
I don't think I can handle the ankle surgery. (6 bolts and a rod thru the heel into the shin bone):sob:
It's time for another Gin and Tonic:ciggrin:

Greetings and felicitations mate I was scheduled to have an operation two days ago but I took and involuntary dive into the rear mirror of our 4 wheel drive that busted two ribs a week or so back. When I was released from hospital the Specialist did not want to release me,questions such as how will you look after yourself. I replied the wife never mows the lawn and I never wash up.

I feel I could match many of your probs all of which enables me to say I understand so well, that ankle sounds tricky. When I shop nearby Super Super Market I use one of their mobility scooters, that takes the pain out of our big fortnightly shopping. I drive even short distances now where I would have walked before. When they cut a cancer by cutting a third off the left ear they did it under local anaesthetic, altogether the searing, cutting and rejoining done by a cowboy specialist with a team of excited lookers on
I was glad when that was over. Back in the workshop couple of days ago on for me a large project gave the old ribs a hurry up but ever so much satisfaction.

Those mini defibrilators are a life saver mate one of ours has a combined pacemaker defib unit.

With the Arthritus I take swig of Dark Cherry Juice of an evening with carbonated Spring Water it knocked my arthritus intense right out of the park.

All in all I know football Aussie Fashion took its toll on my knees and hips and excessive lifting wrecked my back. Every new prob I tell the doc to put it on the list. When I had a yr of treatment over a yr back for 9/10 Cancer the treatment was Radio Therapy no where near as invasive as surgery, results since all clear. With my Mitral Valve not closing properly caused a heart murmer and 24 hrs a day out of sync with an intermittent heart beat thrown in. Sorry but there is more that tells me I understand your predicament . All I can say is hang in there mate, I enjoy your contributions on the forum.

Kind regards Peter.

Growing old can be lethal. Keep your chin up and don't spill your G & T. Good luck on Monday if you see anything in the OR that you could use to cast just slip it under your gown:thumbs:

Peter, I see you have your share of the ''golden years''.
I hope everything goes well for you.

Do you have the Defib/pacemaker?? That's what I'm getting. The 2 valves are not in sync and the pacemaker corrects that. The defib senses irregular beats and zaps you when needed.
With the Arthritus I take swig of Dark Cherry Juice of an evening with carbonated Spring Water it knocked my arthritus intense right out of the park.
I've heard about cherry juice, never tried it, does it really work??
I tried the raisins soaked in Gin but that didn't work.
Be Well

My mom says getting old ain't for sissies. She will be 90 this June. Not many health issues but not to far from full blown Alzheimer's. Good luck, I will say a prayer.

I read of the Arthritus Dk Cherry juice on a US wood site a guy said he had not been around for ages cause of Arthritus tried the juice on a thursday morning in the evening pain gone. First thought I don,t believe in fairy stories bought concentrated Dk Cherry juice at the health food shop, coincidently that evening pain free. At that stage if I dropped something in the workshop I used to chuck a couple more things to make it worthwhile picking up.No trouble at all now 83 this year wife says the juice was a lovely small miracle in our house. No I do not have a need yet for a pacemaker defib unit my Mitral valve is on the clean blood side and not quite closing although not good if it is the other main valve it needs immediate replacement with a workshop made or animal valve.

Moving around freely enjoying life again hope the same for you mate.

Peter.

All the best Angelo, I thought I had enough problems (total left knee replacement due on 21st April), but you have more than your share. Good luck with everything and I hope the outcome is all good.:thumbs:

Blimey mate you seem to be going through the wars. All the best for all the surgery and hope you a quick recovery and that you are able to return to this great hobby. Take care and do as you are told.
