Thank you all for your kind greetings.
The wood I use for my pens are from various sources.
I got hold of about 1 meter, 4 centimeter thick piece of tiger wood, it was the old desk counter of a food court in a mall. Tiger wood is really stunning and hard.
I bought an old 50 centimeter long crocodile carved in Lignum Vitae, It smells really nice when you carve it. Made a beautiful pen of it, and there are plenty of wood left. I think I paid SEK 75 for it, it’s less than £7.
I bought an old wood elephant made of ebony, it was very nice in the grain, dark brown stripes in the black areas. I also bought a woman's head in really black ebony, made a Lock and Load pen of that, ebony really shines when polished. Still got plenty of wood left. Those were in the £5 to £10 range each.
So, look for wood in flee markets, antique shops and boot sales for those tourist elephants and head figures, you get a lot of wood for almost no money at all.
