Hi,
Names Davy an am new to all this forum stuff as well as woodturning.
I got given a small Draper lathe a couple years ago but did nothing with it till this year. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I do....
I only have a cheap set of tools that I think came from draper too but not even sure about that. I do know they are rubbish but I have fairly had to learn about sharpening :-)
So, that's me, I suffer from ME/cfs and had a stroke earlier this year so am finding spending time down the shed therapeutic, I have made a few Christmas decorations as per orders from the wife but really enjoy making pens....only made four so far but can see it becoming bigger than just a hobby.....
So, stand by for lots of silly questions, I will do a search first, but, the way my brain works.....
And, if anyone has any bits an pieces they might be thinking to get rid off, give me a shout as I am always looking.....

Welcome Davy.
Glad you have found some relief from your problems in wood turning .
Pen turning, I find is fun, with the occasional downs.
Search in the forum for your questions but don't be afraid to ask. There is a lot of experience on here.
You may get different answers to your questions but it means there is always another way that works.

Hello and welcome Davy, Yes, pen turning is addictive but lots of fun, and the greatest part is when somebody wants to buy one of your pens. Enjoy the ride.

I had a good read through some of the topics last night and looked at a lot of the pictures.....be a while before I get to the standard required to put up a pic :sob:
Scuttles back down to the shed with wood and skews in hand.........:funny:

Put your pics up & if you have any problems turning your pens we can see them & help you overcome them. We all started like you & needed & sought advice to get where we are on the learning curve so don’t be frightened to show.
