I am thinking of making a show of British wood pens. ie England, Scotland.Wales and Ireland. I need ideas of types of wood which would serve this purpose such as Irish Bog Wood representing Ireland ( more ideas for Ireland welcomed ). If you have any ideas of pen blanks and if possible BRITISH Suppliers who supply the wood I would be so great full.

For Wales I would look at Yew. The Welsh longbow men were renowned in ancient times with yew, of course, being used for all bows. For England it’s got to be oak. For Scotland I’m struggling, don’t think thistle would turn very well. There is the Scots pine though.

You could get some blanks with provenance- some elm from Holyroyd House, some London Plane from the Tower of London, etc.
