We are still going through the learning curve with casting blanks. The blanks them selves are better than when we started. The issue is the colours we are using Mica and liquid colours the Mica doesn't seem to give solid colours you can see the tubes through the blanks. Any advice on what others are using to give solid colours. How are you colouring your blanks.

I tried adding a load of dye but still transparency can be an issue . Several Canadian and American friends suggest painting tubes AND hole in the blanks but not as yet tried either as plenty of prepared wood ones to finish first .

Id welcome any report back of your findings Dave.

He is using
Alumilite clear cast
He has also tried Glass cast
He has also tried polyouethrane offerings.
He is using MICA powders
He is using the tubes of pigments. Solid colours.
He has a pressure pot set up and is considering a vacuum chamber.

To be honest I think he has cracked it. The batch of blanks I picked up to day are stunning.

If I was not getting them for free I would happily pay money for them. Some of the latest pens are awesome.
