I have been asked if I can make an e-cig ( vapour cigarette ) to match a pen so they are a matching pair.

Does anyone know if e-cig kits are available to turners or will I have to by separate components and end up building one from scratch

Thanks in advance for any info or advice

Your problem will be housing the battery.
I am not aware of a kit form for turners and would think it is unlikely to happen.
E-cigs have become so sophisticated these days with safety features etc.
If you only sleeved a ready made one you would still have problems with the switch button.
It's not an area I would venture into again as the little yellow fellas have it sewn up and so cheap.
Another thing to beware of is the heat factor, by covering a lithium battery you would be encouraging higher temperatures on something that lives in a pocket.
I would be very careful in dismantling and refitting in your own casement, I have seen lithium batteries burst into flames when tampered with or even explode.
Get your customer to sign a disclaimer if you proceed.
The components I have are now obsoleted as progress has been so rapid I wouldn't know where to point you other than an e-cig forum or website.

Having had moments of panic and saying all that above.
A Google reveals this which is so similar to what we do anyway.
Might be worth a try????

How Lewis Gentry makes his wood mods

Some interesting mods which may rekindle my interest, I can feel a play coming on init?
Perhaps I dismissed the idea too quickly.

You could easily do something like this which looks cool but remember about the temperature aspect and check it out first
Not all e-cigs lend themselves to this so shop around for the right parts

Thanks for that Brian, I found it very interesting.
There seems to be a fair amount of fiddly work involved but very interesting just the same, and quite a lot of strange words:scratch_head:
Only one thing, it seems to take an awful lot of CA when using wood.

That depends mainly on the wood used Dan.
In the example he is using a burr wood and stabilizes as he goes with ca.
Then uses a lot to obtain his required finish.
This could be reduced enormously depending on what wood you use and the finish you are happy with.

What about corian?:thinks:

The diameter is the only thing to watch for with corian, my batteries are 13mm o/d so there would be a join with the corian I have and I sure ain't buying the stuff.
I think I have some bigger Mistral which is same or similar stuff but I would hate to use it on something nice.
