This wood seems very difficult to get hold of, has anyone a supplier in the UK who sells this in pen blanks or small 6x6x2 blocks? Or any size really ... :thinks:

Jim,

You wont get it I'm afraid, it, and I mean specifically the BURR, is regulated and strictly controlled by CITES. I tried to get a private seller in the US to put some in an envelope and he wouldn't do it.

Sad news it was always said it was precious but we hear that daily about so many timbers (rare and endangered). However there are so many beautiful Rosewoods still available thank goodness.

Kind regards Peter.

You start to wonder when you can walk into some exotic dealers in the uk and pick up the wood no problem. The burr is prohibited to be traded across maritime borders. Right, so the Americans can import it and trade in it openly as they do on eBay and through web sites. So why can't we buy it over here? Because the Americans are the controlling force behind CITES and masterminded the listing. Yet again a masterful use of politics for their own selfish abuse.
