Had a bit if a sleepless night here in North Dorset.
We live in the Stour Valley and when the wind is in the right direction it sounds like a freight train passing the front door.
Lots of noise last night from very loud bangs to the sound of breaking glass, thought we had managed to escape the worst but now looking out side we have a fair amount of damage :shocking:
I have (HAD) a fixed canopy outside my workshop to give me a bit of extra work space, even though it was well fixed and very stable, that's smashed up, thankfully ALL still in the garden and didn't take flight.
Roof of the workshop has some rather large rips in the felt and a few fence panels badly damaged. :sob:
AND..... We are now under a severe flood warning due to the river stour rising rather rapidly...... Oh what fun
Trip to B&Q this morning for materials and then some major repairs to get done :2cry:

Stay safe everyone :scratch_head:

Never something one can be totally prepared for. You can take a tiny bit of solace knowing there is always someone worse off. We had some wind blow through here at or just after Halloween. No damage to our house but the neighbour lost lots of asphalt shingles on his house and shop. The roofs were replaced and finished few days ago in down to -15C, wind and sometime light snow. The insurance paid the $58,000Cad/Ā£33,000 claim. Big house with steep roofs. I do wonder how much their insurance premiums will go up next year.

Stay safe, and hope you get things repaired. Are you in the flood plain or just a bit higher as that is not what you want on top of the wind damage.
Very windy here in Kent at the moment

We are fairly safe from the river Derek up on the side of a hill, though the issue we have is the water flowing down the hill, our garden looks like a small river in itself at the moment, pitch black out in the garden and under about 6" of flowing water :2cry:
Managed to get the roof on the workshop patched and the canopy taken down, its a bit safer now and no rain getting in the workshop (THAT was my main concern).
We just have to figure out how we are going to deal with the flowing water, its backing up and getting deeper :shocking::shocking:

Colin and all affected

stay safe , as has been said you can repair and replace most inorganic things .

Here we had -2C at 6-30 yesterday and whiteout . A1M one lane and 30 mph with a mandatory 40 limit , single file . Today same time , same journey, lots of water but 13C at 6-30 in the pitch black šŸ˜². Journey time today 25 mins , yesterday 1hour 10 and several slides on the back roads at 12mph ( I looked in disbelieve as the backend wobbled on a straight bit )

You couldnā€™t make it up .

Stay safe Colin. I was going to say leave things till clears away but I suppose making sure water doesn't get in to the workshop takes priority. I am lucky as I am to high up from a river but my back garden is waterlogged and muddy . Guy done are garden when we moved in and took out all the stones as it was a newbuild. But no drainage in the soil .lovely during nice weather in the summer but come winter it's a bog. Bit off flooding in some areas but nothing like I saw on the news this morning.... keep safe
