I went to the Westonbirt Arboretum today for the Treefest.  A great show with some great woods for sale at reasonable prices.  I bought a 1.5" x 8" X 3' plank of Hornbeam for £7 which I've now cut up and here is the result.

I also bought a very nice piece of bog oak, enough for 10-12 pens for £9, some fake ivory or whatever you call it, enough for 5 pens for £4, some very nice walnut enough for about 10 pens for £4, a few lumps of box for £14 and a 14" diameter x 6" Walnut round blank for £10.

It is a great show and if you want any good width/length of timber then there is plenty there such as very red yew 2.5m x 450 x 50 for about £20 and its open for the next 2 days.  They also have the normal chain saw carving, steam engine driving a huge saw and a woodmizer running all the time.
