Agree with Eamonn better to enjoy making the pen than turning into an automaton in a factory environment with all the drudgery that entails. I still have not mastered the Skew it is an art that eludes me but I did almost get it right the other day and the wood looked nice and shiny and hardly needed sanding so I can see the benefit just need to find a repeatable technique and more than likely use a little more finesse.
