Morning everyone,

I've been asked to donate a pen for a school summer raffle.

I would like to include a certificate with my name etc and wood used. I would also like to make some business cards.

How do I go about making both, what info should I or should not include? It can't really be hand written because my handwriting is appalling. I would also like the certificate paper to be posh looking, like crispy/bible type paper , if you know what I mean lol!

If you've got any examples I could see or use as a template, that would be great.

Thanks.

Ruth.

Business cards ... you'll need an image and text on it .. Your name or your Business name, phone number, email address and possibly your website if you have one, Staples, Vista print

Certificate .. there are templates in Word, and it would be good if you could carry the theme of your business cards into it .. font, colour .... Staples has a range of card/paper or Heffers ...

It all depends how much dosh you want to part with

Hi Ruth

You're maybe putting the cart before the horse , unless you've already made decisions on name and logo etc.

What I did was decide on the name I wanted to use after researching what is already out there, designed my logo and business card ( I just used MS publisher but loads of programs available), aquired a domain name and set up a website and uploaded my design to Vistaprint who were exceptionally cheap. I think my first order was for 500 business cards. They have loads of templates on their website if you want to play and if you do order just avoid any of the "add ons" offered, unless you want them of course! Loads of other print companies competing for your business and you might be surprised how little it costs. You can also have banners, display cards etc using that one design if you wish to keep the theme.

You can buy parchment type paper if you want to print your certificates and just use your business card design, which of course you saved on your computer, as a full or part header.

The secret in marketing is very simple and just a case of continuing your theme throughout so potential buyers and contacts remember it, but think about that very carefully before going ahead and concentrate on your name and logo 'cos that's what they'll remember.

Just my take on it Ruth and tbh I haven't developed it at all, in fact haven't updated my site for a long time :goesred: as I wasn't actually looking to set up a business, was pushed into it by friends and family. Hope that's of help, this is a jpeg of my business card. The logo took longest of all as I wanted it to look like a pen.

Vista print for me too, simple to change templates & great value, then design your own certificates based on your card.

As Bob says you need all your info & details to hand before ordering anything though

I like Woody do my own certificates, I made my own template but there are plenty in word or pages (Mac) you could try. Most stationers have parchment type inkjet paper. Vista print for business cards for me too. I also do small brochure pamphlets using the computer ( I use Swift Publisher but Pages would probabaly do just as well).

Hi Everyone, hope you are all well.
Here is my card, printed on both sides and using a VistaPrint design on the front. I may change the design to use one of my pens to make it a bit more personal and colourful.. The reverse allows me to give details of the pen for the customer, who generally ask for more information.

Regards Jim.
