No, not that way. :whistling:

A lady approached me yesterday with a request that I make for her a good quality matching set comprising a fountain pen, a ballpoint and a propelling pencil. Looking through the websites of the kit suppliers I have dealt with previously, I can only find two styles that offer all three of these, the American Flat Top and the European Round Top. I wouldn't class either of these as high quality, but I might have to use one or other of them if nothing else is available. Does anybody know of any other (preferably better) kits that offer a fountain pen, a ball point and a pencil?

Thanks for the suggestion. I agree with you about the importance of good quality blanks. How would you rate the quality of the Artisan kits in comparison with the European Round Top and the American Flat Top?

A while ago I made three pencils using the Flat Top kit - I think these were from Turners Retreat but I cannot be sure as I said it was a while ago. The pencil mechanisms were a real problem and only one worked well. That is still going OK but the other two just did not work. The mechanism did not drive the leads in and out for some reason I could not figure out. Perhaps another make will work OK but I would not recommend these.

I wonder how many different primary makers of the pencil mechanisms there ??

Unfortunately, I don't have a photograph. I know it's the season of good will, but I don't think my wife's good will, or that of the lady's husband, would stretch far enough for me to go and take a photograph of the lady in question! You'll just have to use your (probably quite vivid) imagination.

I spent many years living on the edge of a precipice so to speak doing fashion photography as a sideline a very delicate balancing act I can assure you when even the slightest deviation from the norm raised more than eyebrows.
