I failed Twister

Twister (Steve) brought this part finished goblet up to me and left it here, I said I would have a go well I failed. In the first picture of the goblet on the lathe where it is narrow you will see a fault in the dark area, hoping that it did not go all the way to the centre so that the stem and foot could be turned. Well it did go 3/4 of the way through so it got turned into a small vase shape.

Yep happens quite often with me, Do I care?,Bloody wood gets on my nerves :funny: i just waste some more and try again! In fact I'm told I am very trying! :goesred:

i have never turned one
I made a start on it ...but i cut the tenon wrong...newbie mistake
and had nothing but "catches" trying to hollow it
well i went to see Derek other day and took the mess with me
sadly ran out of time and decided to leave it behind,you know what it is like ...chat chat chat and time gone
but walked away with a few pointers and will try again, on a more stable piece of wood

I wouldn't call that a failure Derek, it looks good to me for sure .. :thumbs:

It's a bugger when the pith runs into the stem, not much you can do if the stem gives way. It's a good rescue.
